The launch of the "Green Industry Innovation" programme


The opening event-seminar of the programme "Green Industry Innovation" was held on 3rd of October during the EEA and Norway Grants 2009-2014 launching event.

Participants of the seminar discussed several thematic topics, such as global trends and local specifics of green industry, effective supporting policies, innovative development and related current activities in Latvia, as well as experience of Norway.

Knowledge was shared and practical examples were given by Norwegian and Baltic entrepreneurs, scientists and representatives from the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia.

The programme "Green Industry Innovation", which was accepted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway on 20th of August, 2012, will be implemented and monitored by the Ministry of Economics in cooperation with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia and a Norwegian agency "Innovation Norway". The aim of the programme is to facilitate competitiveness of green industry, to encourage safe manufacturing, green innovations and green entrepreneurship.

The total funding available for the programme is 8.8 million LVL (~12.4 million EUR) jointly provided by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the State Budget of Latvia. Small, medium and large innovative companies will have an opportunity to implement projects supported by this programme until April 30, 2016.
