Project results presented via creative workshops

2nd July, Cēsis Castle Park, Society Integration Foundation in cooperation with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Latvia, took part in conversation festival LAMPA. Five (5) non-governmental organizations presented the project results within the EEA financial mechanism programme “NGO fund”.

From 12 a.m. to 4 p.m. on stage APGAISMO (Enlight) non- governmental organizations not only showed some of the activities carried out within the project, but also invited to take part in workshops. To display the project diversity and versatility, festival visitors, adults and children, were able to find activities of most interest and with the help of those get closer look at association’s work, objectives and results achieved during the implementation of the project. All projects were implemented with financial support of Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

During the first part of the day, in workshop “Social innovation in practice” there was a chance to meet foundation “Centrs Valdardze” four-legged soul healers, Newfoundland breed dogs – Zum-Zum and Dūda. In the centre Valdardze dogs with their trainers provided canine therapy for abused children. Children and parents had opportunity to get acquainted with canine therapy methods, as well as simply pet the dogs and hold their soft paws in the palm of their hands.

Hiding from the sun in the tent, diligently worked representatives of Liepāja Society of the Blind. Passersby  could not remain indifferent when looking at the basket, at crafts made with these diligent hands. Wicker weaving lesson is only one of many activities, wich were implemented within project “Be active and get involved”. Soon enough, in the crowd of festival visitors one could spot people with the wicker flower in their hands. They will take this flower home and tell others about those diligent hands and bright soul, which they met at the festival.

Liepājnieki are accustomed to the sun! It was made evident by the sun tireless – the society “Radi Vidi Pats”. They are as energetic and unusual as their project results. Crave a purse from carton, want to ride a funky bike, but maybe you need a help to prepare for a job interview and write a resume? You could do all these things in conversation festival LAMPA. As soon as the first lionhearted got on a funky bike – no turning back. It could not be stopped and sadly all other activities were pulled aside. “We are used to see how funky bikes attract people, but we just hope that in other events we will have the opportunity to play job interviews as well. It would also help ourselves to develop further this service we provide in our society”, said Linda the representative of society “Radi Vidi Pats”.

Time flew by and it came for workshop “Your voice, your opportunity!” Two strong organizations, whose work and achieved results demonstrate that each voice has opportunity to be heard, offered workshops in the second workshop round.

World Nature Fund (Pasaules Dabas fonds) invited to become the Minister of Environment for 10 minutes. Volunteers were found, conclusions were drawn and option to ask and get instant answer was used.

Meanwhile, representatives of invited passersby submit their own initiatives. What we want to change in our country? What is important to us? What is worth fighting for? Board filled with ideas. They were evaluated, discussed and some of them will be published on where everyone who is interested will be able to vote and make a change.

With a lot of passion, interesting and creative way we presented the hard work what has been done by implementing EEA grant programme “NGO fund” projects. You might ask, was it worth it - without the slightest doubt, yes. Anyone would be willing to rush again.
