The Informative Event of the EEA and Norway Grants in Sunny Riga Attracts Many Interested People


In Riga, on Saturday 17 May, the informative event of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Norway Grants was held at a culture chalet "Rīga 2014" in Esplanade, celebrating 200th anniversary of the Norwegian Constitution. During the event, both small and adult visitors of the park had a possibility to find out information about the investment of the Grants in Latvia as well as to participate in different activities and competitions.

During the event, there has been a project "Unexpected Appointments" presented in which it was possible to watch through a "mobile eye" what happens at that moment in Norway as well as to communicate and even to acquire a new friend in Norway. Persons interested could view a photo exhibition "Latvia through EEA/Norway Grants' Eyes" in which one could find out more about already implemented projects in different places of Latvia.

There were also the winners of the youth video competition "NO HATE speech online" that had been announced by the Society Integration Foundation and by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Latvia.

The event was enriched by Norwegian culture programme and other activities.

67.48 million EUR are allocated as the financial assistance for Latvia from both Financial Mechanisms for the period of 2009-2014.The Grants are implemented through a programme approach and the overall objectives of the Grants are to contribute to the reduction of economic and social disparities within the EEA and to strengthen bilateral relations between the Donor States and the Beneficiary State.
