“Z(in)oo” surprises and teaches
Laughter, curious looks, countless surprises for children. This is what awaits every big and small citizen and visitor of Cēsis when opening the door of the children scientific centre "Z(in)oo" in Cēsis. It is a place where children can show their curiosity, learn and understand natural sciences in an exciting way.
In Cēsīs there is the most up-to-date juvenile correctional facility in Latvia
"Thanks to the Norwegian financial support, now in Cēsis there is the most up-to-date juvenile correctional facility in Latvia," says Andris Pāže, Head of the Cēsis Juvenile Correctional Facility of the Prison Administration of the Ministry of Justice. "Frankly speaking, now juveniles here live better than some people on the outside."
Tourists from all over the world find a medieval feeling in Cēsis
From the very beginning the overall panorama of Cēsis has been beautified with a complex of medieval castle. In order to avoid the loss of its initial beauty over centuries and years, citizens of Cēsis with Norwegian financial support have recently replaced the roofing of the Western Tower. The out-of-date roof shingles were replaced by clay tiles. In the result, the roof of the tower regained its look as it was created in 1914 and is now open for visitors.
Electronic surveillance launched in Latvia on 1st July 2015
Latvia has been actively working on the implementation of electronic monitoring and starting from 1st July this year the first inmates will be able to apply for early release from prison sentence with electronic monitoring. The technological solution selected is the radio-frequencies-based technology to control the location of a person in a specific place, while the introduction of electronic monitoring based on GPS technology is not intended so far.
Finance Minister Janis Reirs: Latvia’s inhabitants appraise the support provided by the EEA/Norwegian Financial Mechanisms
On Thursday, June 11, in the Ministry of Finance (MoF) the annual meeting of the European Economic Area (EEA) and Norwegian Financial Instruments took place. During the meeting representatives of the Ministry together with the representatives of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Financial Mechanism Office and Norwegian Embassy in Latvia discussed the implementation of EEA/Norwegian Financial Mechanisms and progress of programme implementation in 2014–2015.

Open Call "Seaport for Introduction of Green Technologies in Production"
From 14 November 2014 until 16 January 2015, within the second round of the open competition ‘Support for Introduction of Green Technologies in Production’ of the ‘Green Industry Innovation’ programme co-funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism, the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) will receive applications for projects in compliance with Cabinet Regulation No 1442 of 10 December 2013 on the procedure for implementing the open competition of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2009.-2014 ‘Green Industry Innovation’ programme.
